Sorry I've been quiet - I'm dealing with some odd stresses in life right now and following the "if you can't say something nice, don't blog about it and whine" credo of life.
Let's see, what's new? Our landlord is turning the house we rent into a duplex while we live in it, we are super not pleased by this. We rented it because it was a whole house (we own a duplex in Madison, remember, that's something we wanted to get away from) and we need a guest room altogether. Proof positive that we should not rent any longer. Keep your fingers, toes and and other assorted digits crossed that I get a job soon so that we buy a nice house.
Last week, we went to Doug Fir for the China Forbes cd release party. If you haven't heard it yet, go to her myspace page to give it a listen. It's really good. The show was fun, although we didn't get there early enough to grab a seat, and the crowd was both older and pushy. Meh, I was there for the music anyway.
Tomorrow, we are hopefully going to to a Colin Meloy free show - he's the lead singer for the Decemberists. I'm very fond of the Decemberists so I'm curious to see his solo stuff. It's also in a venue we haven't gone to yet, so that's super cool. I'm always trying to see new things.
Freaked myself (and Brian) out by having the largest grocery bill to-date last night. I'm so embarrassed by it, I'm not even going to tell you what it was. Our cupboards were totally empty, even our "emergency if there's nothing else" meals were long gone. Brian had been putting in 20 hour days again, and I've been fighting a cold so we just put it off. And we bought 3 bags of coffee beans because they were really cheap-ish, so that's $30 right there. But I am going to switch grocery stores anyway, and I can't wait until our farm share starts to help with all that. Yikes.
Today is the Portland Urban Iditarod. Don't think we'll make it to this year's but will try to keep it in mind for next year.
O! Did I tell you that we are going to book a short sail on some pirate ships? One of the ships from all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies sails up and down the West coast so people can appreciate what sailing used to be. You can book an adventure tour or a battle tour for three hours on the Pacific ocean. I am excited about doing this! I'm too lazy to go grab the link right now, but I promise I'll add it later.
Alright, that's that - I'm off to do the things I'm putting off now.
