Random thoughts

I like kennings. Probably more than I should - and I think sometimes I get picked on for them. "Whale-road" is such a beautiful word for ocean. I don't care who picks on me for that.

Someone from Milan, Italy, commented on a picture I took in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho over Easter. It's still so cool to me that I can see his pictures as he puts them up on flickr, and that he can comment on mine (however he found them). This lead me to one of his contacts who takes some truly inspiring pictures in Russia. And now she is looking at my pictures, and leaving comments for me.

I know the internet is so old now, and I should get over all this amazement about it, but on second thought, no, I won't. It's incredible to me that I can figure out where my Austrian roommate from college is working, and giggle at how grown-up and businessy he is now. I can sympathize with my friend Hillarie in Scotland that landlords everywhere are a pain. All of this is worthy of being in awe of, if you ask me, and it's why it's the only industry that interests me. Art + technology + communication, it's so amazingly beautiful and temporal, all at once.

Alright, enough rambling (I hear I owe Fernando an apology for rambling on about how much I love the West coast the other night, sorry Fernando), I'm off to light a fire in the fireplace and go back to reading Seamus Heaney's translation of Beowulf. Cool.
