Wednesday Night

Justin Bennett from Salem opened, followed by Another Cynthia and then Macadam. It was a good night altogether, but Another Cynthia rocks. I can't remember the last time I bought a CD at a show where I heard the band for the first time. They put on a great stage show, they have a good presence and are the sort of band where you look down and think, huh, I didn't realize I was dancing.

Left during Macadam to head home (midnight on a Wednesday and we have a lot to do today before Tim arrives on Friday from snow-buried Milwaukee, Wisc) and it was really storming. The rain was coming down in sheets and when we stopped at stop lights, my car was actually rocking from the wind. Wild! I know these huge trees have survived much worse in my neighborhood, but when the wind gets that strong and trees with bases much wider than I could put my arms around are swaying, I have to look at them suspiciously. The storm made it easy to sleep, I love going to sleep listening to the rain on the windows.

Today, the sun is out and if I didn't know any better, from in here it could be summer. There is enough of the rain left that the plants are glittering in the sunlight. I'm watching blue jays in our back yard, and remembering the hummingbird we saw back there when we were eating dinner one night.

So happy to be back in Portland :)
